Cookie policy
This is a short page because the honest answer is short: this site sets no non-essential cookies, which is also why you have not seen a consent banner.
This document is a draft placeholder template. The client's solicitor approves the final wording before go-live; until then nothing on this page is a binding policy or legal advice.
Everything this site stores in your browser
The table below is the complete list. There is no advertising, no cross-site tracking and no analytics cookie, and nothing follows you around the web after you leave.
| Service | What it stores | When | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plausible Analytics | Nothing. No cookies and no browser storage | Never | Anonymous, aggregate page statistics with no personal identifiers |
| Stripe | Essential cookies and similar storage | At checkout only | Processing your payment securely and preventing fraud |
| Shopping cart | One first party localStorage entry, which is not a cookie | When you add an item to the cart | Remembers your cart between visits. It stays in your browser, is sent to no one and tracks nothing |
Why there is no consent banner
UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) requires consent for cookies that are not strictly necessary. We set none before checkout: Plausible measures traffic without cookies and the cart lives in your own browser's localStorage. The storage Stripe sets during checkout is essential to taking your payment securely, which is the recognised exemption. No non-essential cookies means nothing to consent to, so no banner.
Managing what is stored
You can clear cookies and site data for thebandsawstore.co.uk at any time through your browser's settings. The only visible effect on this site is that clearing localStorage empties your cart.
If the stack changes
If we ever add a service that sets non-essential cookies, this page changes first and a consent mechanism arrives with it. How we handle personal data more broadly is covered by the privacy policy.
Storage is the small half of the story. The privacy policy covers what we actually do with personal data.
