How a toothless blade cuts
Grit and diamond-coated bandsaw blades have no teeth at all. Instead, a steel band carries an edge coating of tungsten carbide grit or diamond, either continuous or interrupted by gullets that help clear dust on deeper cuts. Where a toothed blade severs chips, an abrasive edge grinds: thousands of hard points each remove a fraction of material, leaving a clean, controlled kerf.
That distinction matters because hard, brittle and abrasive workpieces punish teeth. Glass and fired ceramics chip or shatter under individual tooth impacts, while GRP and graphite wear a toothed edge away in minutes. A grit edge sidesteps both failures: there is no impact to start a crack and no discrete cutting edge to blunt. The band simply grinds its way through at whatever pace the material allows.
These blades run on standard bandsaw machines, and we cut and weld them to length in the UK, so a glass shop and a composites trimming line can order the same edge as loops for entirely different saws.
Diamond or tungsten carbide grit
Both Saw37GRIT edges grind rather than bite, so the choice between them comes down to how hard the workpiece is and how much edge you want to pay for. The honest rule: diamond for the hardest materials, tungsten carbide grit for abrasive work short of glass-hard.

Materials these blades cut
The workpieces below are the reason this category exists: every one of them either shatters under tooth impact or wears toothed edges out before the job is done.

| Glass | Diamond edge, normally run wet. Support the workpiece fully so the exit face cannot chip, feed gently and let the abrasive set the pace. |
| Industrial ceramics | Diamond edge. Fired technical ceramics shatter under tooth impact, so grind through with a light, steady feed and use coolant to hold heat and dust down. |
| Concrete | Diamond edge for cured material. Aggregate is punishing, so keep the feed low, and treat the dust seriously: it carries silica. |

TPI and width on a blade with no teeth
Most blade-selection advice starts with tooth pitch. This category is the exception, and knowing why makes the rest of the choice simple.
No teeth means no TPI
On toothed blades you choose a pitch that keeps roughly 4 to 24 teeth in the cut. A grit edge has no pitch to choose: the whole contact length cuts at once, so section size stops dictating blade selection.
Match the coating to the workpiece
Diamond takes the hardest materials, including glass, industrial ceramics, quartz and silicon. Tungsten carbide grit is the economical edge for GRP, graphite, cast iron skins and wire-reinforced rubber.
Size the width to the cut
Wider bands resist deflection and hold a straighter line in deep cuts; narrower bands suit smaller wheels and tighter curves. Published widths run from 6 to 38mm across the two edges.
